The great reality competition that has been on for the past few months hit a nail biting climax this December, when Alexandra Burke was crowned the new X Factor winner. She beat fierce competition from JLS and Eoghan Quigg.

More than 12 million people tuned in for the final, with more than 8 million casting a vote, and they were not let down. Each artist had a song to sing with a famous figure. Eoghan Quigg was first and sang with the newly formed Boyzone. JLS then went to sing with Westlife and the most mind boggling performance came from Alexandra Burke, when she performed with Beyonce. You could just feel the excitement and passion pouring from each singer’s mouth.

Eoghan Quigg was then first to leave with the fewest votes and JLS and Alexandra went on to perform the winners single Hallelujah. To be honest both acts made the song sound incredible and it was very hard to choose a winner, but the hugely talented Alexandra Burke eventually took the crown.

After winning the show Judge Simon Cowell said: “I’m rarely speechless but I am now. Alex, God bless you. You deserved it. Cheryl, very proud of you kid. It was a dream come true for Alexandra as she had waited 3 years for this chance after being sent home by Louis Walsh, who said she was too young and not ready.

So how will Alexandra’s career develop? Well I think she will have a hugely popular career just as Leona Lewis is currently experiencing. But I think Simon Cowell and the rest of the record label should sit down with her and decide what sort of music to release. Obviously she does remind me and everyone of Leona, but choosing the same music style I think will be a big mistake. We already have a Leona we do not need the same type of artist again. Instead a more Toni Braxton style of music will suit Alexandra’s voice.

Mean while runners up JLS look to have a perfect musical career ahead of them. To be honest they are probably one of the best boy bands to date. I can see them having success in the UK and the USA. JLS who lost out by almost 1 million votes were very gallant and respectable in defeat, offering Alexandra a welcoming hand. Whatever happens these two artists we be very successful in there own ways.
