Musical Instruments That Makes Perfect Music
Do online guitar lessons for kids make sense?
We all know that the internet is a magnet for children and learning online does indeed make a lot of sense. Are you one of those parents that proclaim your "young child can run circles around you on the computer?" Today children are brought up with the computer and being online is a natural thing.
Research has shown through various brain imaging techniques that sight reading music and playing activates all four regions of our cortex lobes. Often children that play a musical instrument have better grades in school and rate higher in both Math and Science. A two year Swiss study involving 1,200 kids showed that those students were better at languages, learned to read easily and had better social skills. Also music can bridge a child's shyness and help to bring them out and gain self confidence.
One of the benefits of playing the guitar is that it is light weight and mobile. Unlike a piano or large horn, a guitar can easily be handled by a child. Have you noticed that your child enjoys music? Does he or she like to sing around your house or show other signs of musical talent? By getting them involved in music at an early age you can promote self-discipline, diligence and offer them the beginning of a lifetime source of joy.
Online guitar lessons allow a child to learn at their own pace without a teacher "looking over their shoulder" or applying pressure that could lead to stress. We all learn at different speeds and the easier and more fun a lessons plan is the better chance your child will stick with it. Children CAN learn to play the guitar but perhaps at a little slower pace than adults.
Several important points for a beginner guitarist:
Whether your child starts with a smaller or full size guitar it is imperative that it is "set up" properly.
Make sure that the guitar stings are lowered so that it is easier to press them down and get a good tone.
It is also a good idea to get a thinner gauge string for a beginner. This will sacrifice some tone on an acoustic guitar but the trade off of not having stinging or in the worst case, bleeding fingers is worth it.
Make sure to choose an online guitar course that has animated games and graphics. Kids love to play games and it makes learning fun.
Lastly, you do not have to purchase a "child's course" as many of the better online lessons plans are designed for ANY true beginner.
As a musician for over 25 years that has both taken and taught guitar lessons I can relate to these questions. There are great resources out there available for you. With the technology present today and the overall difference of costs involved, online guitar lessons are arguably the most effective teaching system available.
But YOU have to take the first step and provide the desire and discipline to get started. As they say, "practice makes perfect."
It is important to begin with a course of action that will show you quick results. The sooner you can put what you are learning to use the more fun and enjoyment you will have.
